How To Play

Gomoku

Take turns placing stones on the board. Connect five stones in a row horizontally, vertically, or diagonally to win.

Tip: controlling the center often gives you more options.

Basic Rules

The board uses a 15×15 grid.
Black moves first.
Stones are placed on intersections and cannot be moved later.
If the board fills up without five in a row, the game ends in a draw.

Game Modes

Two Players: pass the device and take turns face to face.
Play vs AI: challenge the AI on Easy, Medium, or Hard.
You can choose to play Black first or White second in AI mode.

Win & Draw

Five in a row wins: Connect five stones in any direction to win.
Draw: If the board fills up (225 positions) with no five in a row, it's a draw.
Forbidden moves (Black only): Black cannot make two open threes (three-three), two fours (four-four), or more than five in a row (overline). If Black violates, they forfeit.

AI Difficulty

Easy: AI plays randomly or chooses locally. Great for beginners learning the rules.
Medium: AI has basic attack and defense awareness. Good for practice.
Hard: AI has strong overall judgment and calculation. Highly challenging.

Undo

Each match includes 3 undo chances.
In AI mode, undo rewinds both your move and the AI move.
In two-player mode, undo rewinds one move.
Undo chances reset when a new match starts.

Strategy Tips

Watch for open threes and dangerous fours from both sides.
Balance offense and defense instead of chasing one plan only.
Creating two threats at once is often stronger than extending a single line.
The nine star points on the board help positioning only and do not affect the rules.
